Shaming with Press Ganey Scores

The shame and test scores episode, [Episode 4, “Pass/Fail”] made me reflect on one of the statements from the episode - that such a system does not exist once you are a professional practicing in the real world. But I have felt the opposite. Press Ganey scores, RVU metrics, chart completion rates, etc., are routinely employed to salaries, to make shame charts in clinics and hospitals and for peer comparisons when we have to meet coding and billing personnel. They think the ranking and kudos system works and continue to use that tool regardless of structural problems; the suits remain tone deaf to the reality of the foot soldiers on the ground.
